Editorial Design
Be seen and be heard
This editorial magazine spread, titled “Be Seen and Be Heard,” addresses the sensitive issue of body shaming and obesity through a conceptual and empathetic visual narrative. The design focuses on the emotional impact of societal judgment, where individuals often feel silenced, isolated, and unseen despite being physically present.
The visual approach features a human figure confined within a vessel, with a hidden or obscured face, symbolizing discomfort, suppression, and internal conflict. The vessel acts as a metaphor for both physical containment and psychological pressure, reflecting how external opinions can shape self-perception. The composition emphasizes negative space and restrained colour tones to create a sense of isolation and introspection. Typography is subtle yet assertive, reinforcing the message of reclaiming visibility and voice. The overall design aims to provoke empathy and encourage a shift from judgment to understanding.
